Why do we still have political labels?

There are so many party debates that deprive people of things that could really benefit society because of the fact that the party that is supporting it is opposing them, why isn't this an issue to the everyday american. the label also applies to anyone who has been elected into anything political, so many people who vote just make the decision based on the fact that they are a democrat or republican. Eliminating the label will force people to investigate who will manipulate them and eliminate senseless debacles between the parties.
