Can i legally drive From London to Lisbon?

Or do i have to change my insurance policy for such a thing. Secondly....has anyone actually driven that far before? How did your car hold out. I would be going in a Nissan Micra 2003 Diesel, so its a small car but not so old. Any thoughts?
